POTOMAC GROVE CLINICAL RESEARCH CENTER

Potomac Grove Clinical Research Center (PGCRC) conducts pharmaceutical studies in the Greater Washington, D.C. area. The mission of PGCR is to contribute to the improvement of treatments for emotional and behavioral problems through innovative medication strategies.

The safety, health, and well being, and ethical treatment of our patients is always our primary concern. By choosing research projects wisely, we are able to offer our patients more options for care than they would ordinarily have.

Our studies have investigated treatment for a wide range of conditions including depression, pain, cognitive impairment, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia. The research team is headed by Dr. Louis E. Kopolow, board certified, distinguished fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, and member of the American College of Psychiatrists.

Dr. Kopolow has been principal investigator in national and international research studies for nearly 15 years. Karen Phinney, APRNC, is the Research Coordinator. She has worked with Dr. Kopolow in research for more than a decade and also practices as a nurse therapist. The PGCRC team has worked with pharmaceutical companies and contract research organizations in conducting these studies.

There are many reasons to volunteer to participate in a research study. It can be an opportunity to receive a new treatment that is not currently available. It is an opportunity to have, free of charge:

  • closely monitored care
  • laboratory assessments
  • study medication
